Battersby: Battersby, Esk Valley Line, looking west towards the disused section to Picton on the Northallerton to Eaglescliffe line, closed in 1954 and where a few yards of track still exist beyond the station, in pouring rain at 11.24 on Wednesday, 20th March 2024. This opened on 6th April 1858 as Ingleby Junction, renamed Battersby Junction on 30th July 1878 and Battersby on 1st May 1893. Since closure of the Picton line, all trains have to reverse here. Aberdeen Harbour: The Royal Yacht 'Britannia' was a 'visitor attraction' long before being so regarded in retirement at Leith. Here she is in Aberdeen Harbour in 1965, with an interesting selection of road cars and vans on the quayside.

Battersby: Stanier Black 5 no. 44871 (1945) at Battersby with the Railway Touring Company's excursion to Whitby, at 11.17 on Wednesday, 20th March 2024. The train reversed here to continue to Whitby and was then in the hands of 47815 with 44871 at the rear to bring the train back to Battersby after a 90 minutes leg stretch break in Whitby.
