Battersby

Battersby, Esk Valley Line, looking west towards the disused section to Picton on the Northallerton to Eaglescliffe line, closed in 1954 and where a few yards of track still exist beyond the station, in pouring rain at 11.24 on Wednesday, 20th March 2024. This opened on 6th April 1858 as Ingleby Junction, renamed Battersby Junction on 30th July 1878 and Battersby on 1st May 1893. Since closure of the Picton line, all trains have to reverse here. (See my image 74312 for how this station looked in June 1982.)
