North Queensferry: Just for a change we have 68007 arriving at North Queensferry on the 1719 Edinburgh Cardenden service in 2015. It was the regular on these trains. It was nice when 68007 went back to Crewe for a major exam and another member of the 68s worked these services.

Ascensor Concepcion: A zoom view of the upper station and one car of the Ascensor Concepcion, an 1883 funicular connecting a residential district to the heart of Valparaiso in Chile. The ascensors have always been popular with visitors and residents alike, although rising maintenance costs have forced some to close. A local company offers a walking tour of the city that takes in the survivors.

Chester-le-Street: After a hard day in the factory, I set off for home via Chester-Le-Street station - as you do. This is the first freight I have snapped here, 6S29 from Hunslet to Oxwellmains. There was another freight due 40 minutes later, but I had a 200 mile drive ahead of me. Notice the enthusiastic teenage photographer down the platform - always good to see new blood in the hobby (not literally).

Lindsay Colliery Pits Nos 4 and 5: View looking north showing the site of the Lindsay Colliery part of which was in the foreground in the green triangular piece of ground, (the memorial at the top end). The railway ran down the left side of the triangle, crossed under the road and continued off to the top right to meet the main line at Kelty. Top right, beyond the site of the station, is Loch Ore. Some blurring added for privacy.

Portobello Yard: The 30 Ton Morris crane which served the Freighliner depot is slowly being consumed by the undergrowth at Portobello Yard on 7th March 2024.

Crouch End: View from Crouch End Hill bridge over the old 'Northern Heights' line, with the remains of Crouch End station in the cutting below, looking towards Finsbury Park, on the afternoon of Saturday, 27th January 2024. Good use is being made of the Parkland Walk footpath that runs along the trackbed of a line that should never have closed from just east of Highgate to just north of Finsbury Park and, if not for World War Two, would now be a branch of the London Underground Northern Line and the populous suburbs of Crouch End (where I live) and Muswell Hill would not now be dependant only on buses.
