Castleton: Scheduled services through Castleton are all operated by Northern but on 17th April 2024 there were extra ECS movements by TPE Class 185s, running between Huddersfield and Manchester Victoria via the Calder Valley. These were possibly driver training movements ahead of another Standedge route engineering closure. 185140 passes through the station on one of these runs.

Muirbeath Colliery Pits Nos 1 and 2: With the Firth of Forth in the background, the site of Muirbeath Colliery Pits Nos 1&2 (1894-1914) are on the left and the former West of Fife Mineral Railway was on the right. The colliery was served by a short branch from the Dunfermline direction which came off immediately west of a level crossing, as a result both the 'main line' and the colliery siding having level crossings. Hints of the colliery siding can be seen in the field to the right of the bing. Muirbeath was also known as Highholm, the name of the farm off to the right (where pits nos 3&4 were also located). The view looks west.

With an 08 pottering about marshalling PW wagons of all types. GBRf 66710 ran northbound from Southampton Docks to the East Midlands Gateway terminal @ 1219 hours. Rep. No. 4M19
