Kensal Rise: 378213, London Overground to Stratford, heading away from the camera as it departs from Kensal Rise at 13.39 on Saturday, 9th March 2024. This is one of the stations that Beeching wanted to shut along with the Broad Street to Richmond line, of which it was then part but thankfully reprieved.

Troon: Network Rail welcomed Siobhian Brown, Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Ayr, to Troon station this week as progress continues on the new station building. The timing of the visit coincided with the building becoming wind and water-tight and Ms. Brown was given a first look at the interior of the new facility. A new ticket office and spacious waiting area, as well as a ‘changing places’ facility for people with disabilities and their carers to use, are being built as part of the project. Significant progress has been made in recent weeks with the installation of trusses – the framework supporting the roofs – as well as slate and lead work on the roofs. External concrete blockwork has also been positioned to create the walls of the building.

Mossley: With five intermediate stops the Piccadilly to Huddersfield services take around 45 minutes so two Class 185s can maintain the hourly services. They cross at Mossley and, one second after this picture of 185144 arriving was taken, 185137 rolled into the frame with the Manchester bound service.

Sculcoates Goods: The goods yard at Sculcoates, Hull was used by Drapers as a scrapyard and quite a number of BR steam and some diesel locomotives met their end there. D2614 was built by Hunslet and according to BR Database entered service at Goole in February 1961 and was withdrawn from the same location in March 1967. It is recorded as having been cut up in June 1967. I have this shot as taken in October 1967 but this may be incorrect. Only D2554 survived long enough to become the single 05 in BR stock.
