St Brides Crossing

This bridge was located at Stank Farm, at the south end of Loch Lubnaig. Despite appearances, this did not carry the double track of St Brides Crossing (this was a little to the south). The railway ran on the left side of the bridge and a farm track on the right.

St Brides was one of a number of passing loops established along the Callander and Oban's single track as the traffic increased. This one was between Callander and Strathyre. John Anderson, secretary of the C&O, wished to open a station at St Brides but this was blocked by the landowner. The view looks towards Strathyre. Since this photograph was taken, in 1988, the decking on the right has been removed and a new fence erected along the central girders.
