![The station at Elmswell in the days when it still had a signal box and manual crossing gates. This January 1977 view is towards Haughley where the line from Bury St Edmunds joins the main line from Ipswich to Norwich. ![The Grade II listed Jacobean style frontage of Thurston station on 12th July 2014. Passengers had to climb many stairs to reach the platforms until a new entrance was made through the former goods yard. The station narrowly survived closure in the Beeching era thanks to the local M.P. striking a deal with BR management.
