Waggonways and mineral tramways

This page will provide a list of waggonways and mineral tramways. These were numerous and this page by no means attempts to be a complete list. Town passenger tramways will be detailled elsewhere.

This ran from the locality of Halbeath on the Dunfermline branch of the Edinburgh, Perth and Dundee Railway to the harbour at St. Davids near North Queensferry. The "main line" had many short branches.

Fordell Railway

This ran from near Elbowbend Junction (on the Alloa-Kincardine-Dunfermline line of the North British Railway), and near Dunfermline Lower (on the Dunfermline to Queensferry line of the North British Railway to Charleston Harbour.  Some of the line has survived as part of the Charleston Railway.

Alloa Glass Tramway

The tramway ran from the Alloa Glass factory to the harbour at Alloa.

Aberfoyle Quarry Tramway

Running from exchange sidings at the Aberfoyle station of the Strathendrick and Aberfoyle Railway, this ran up to the quarries above Aberfoyle by a series of inclined planes.

This ran allong what is now South Street from the Partick West station of the Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway to Yarrow's shipyard.
