Craigendoran: Reid C15 no 67474 stands at the pier platform at Craigendoran in July 1959 with the local push-pull stopping train to Arrochar and Tarbet over the West Highland line. The two C15s fitted for push-pull operations on this service (the other being 67460) were allocated to Eastfield shed, although Craigendoran - Arrochar duties necessitated overnight stabling at the sub shed at Arrochar. This was essentially a servicing area, located on the south side of the line at the west end of Arrochar and Tarbet station, where facilities included a bothy, a stabling road with a pit and an adjacent siding to accomodate a coal wagon. (Enginemen and cleaner were based in Arrochar with cover for holidays etc being provided by Helensburgh shed.) The C15s were eventually withdrawn in April 1960, at which point a diesel railbus took over the service, which finally came to an end in June of 1964. As for the pier platform itself, the last steamer operated from Craigendoran Pier in 1972, resulting in closure of the pier platform in September of that year followed by demolition of the associated station building.
