Photographs of Ansdell and Fairhaven

Ansdell and Fairhaven: Ansdell and Fairhaven was formerly an island platform with through roads on either side but is now reduced to a single line using the old down side only. Northern Pacer 142015 calls on its way to Blackpool South.

Ansdell and Fairhaven: Busy once every decade or so. Just beyond Ansdell and Fairhaven station the Royal Lytham St. Annes golf course can be seen. This was last used for the UK Open Golf Championship in 2001 and will be again in 2012, when no doubt the station will be thronged with golf fans again. View towards Blackpool from the station entrance on the overbridge.

Ansdell and Fairhaven: With the Royal Lytham St. Annes championship golf course behind the train, Pacer 142015 leaves the former island platform at Ansdell and Fairhaven on a Northern service heading for Blackpool South in February 2009. Ansdell is one of six intermediate stations on the 12 mile branch.

Ansdell and Fairhaven: There is little trace these days of the four tracks that used to pass through Ansdell and Fairhaven, the houses on the right of this picture having been built on the old trackbed. This view looks west from a modern footbridge and the remaining face of the island platform can be seen beyond the road bridge. Unfortunately the scheduled service to Blackpool South did not appear for the picture.
