Forth and Cart Canal The canal is in-filled and closed. The route of the canal was used by the Lanarkshire and Dunbartonshire Railway. This railway is also now mostly closed and the trackbed now forms a footpath. The junction between the Forth and Cart Canal and the Forth and Clyde Canal can still be more or less discerned.
