Wishaw Devation Line
(Caledonian Railway)

This line provides a 'Motherwell bypass' for freight (particularly from and to the Mossend Marshalling Yard) and non-stop passenger services. The line is also used by recently introduced service to and from Lanark.

Holytown Junction

The line starts at a west facing junction with the former Wishaw and Coltness Railway's Cleland Branch just to the east of Holytown station.

Ravenscraig Coal Marshalling Yard

This yard was located to the west side of the line. Approach was from the north by a viaduct over the Calder.

Ravenscraig Ore Marshalling Yard

This yard was located to the east side of the line. Approach was from the north by a viaduct over the Calder.

This is a two platform station. A spur from a south facing junction runs from the north end of the station to join the former Wishaw and Coltness Railway at Shieldmuir. A closed branch ran from the south end of the station, a north facing junction, eastwards to Cambusnethan.

This was a two platform station. It is closed. Nearby were coalmines belonging to the Coltness Ironworks which were connected to the works by a private railway.

Here, at a south facing junction, the line meets the former Caledonian Railway main line.
