West Highland Railway

The line

This railway runs from Craigendoran (near Glasgow) to Fort William. The line had a branch to Banavie Pier.

The Service

There are three passenger trains in each direction every day and a sleeper train to London. The line is also open to freight to the Alumium smelter at Fort William and the papermill at Corpach.

1923 North British Railway grouped into the London and North Eastern Railway
1948 Railways nationalised as British Railways
1964 Local passenger service between Craigendoran and Arrochar and Tarbet withdrawn
1966, 1 November Arrochar and Tarbet closed to goods
