This line runs from Warrington to Newton on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. The original terminus in Warrington was left as a branch when the Grand Junction Railway was opened between Warrington and Birmingham. This branch became known as the Dallam branch. It is now closed. The original junction with the Liverpool and Manchester Railway was at a station originally called Newton Junction and the junction faced west towards Liverpool.
