This line runs through the through a number of small towns on the north bank of the River Tyne to the west of Newcastle.
The line ran from Prudhoe to Scotswood along the north bank of the River Tyne.
To the east of the Prudhoe was the junction between the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway and the line to Scotswood.
