Merthyr, Tredegar and Abergavenny Railway

This company was formed to build a line from Abergavenny to Merthyr. Construction had reached from Abergavenny to Brynmaur when the line was bought by the London and North Western Railway who extended it to Merthyr and used it as part of their push into south Wales. Part of the line was built along the course of Bailey's Tramroad.
