This line runs through countryside from Kelso to tweedmouth.
The line ran from Kelso to Tweedmouth. The line was double track.
This station on the East Coast Mainline (formerly the Newcastle and Berwick Railway which became part of the North Eastern Railway) is closed although the line is still open. At this point the railway was quadruple track with the two platforms of the station on the outside of the four tracks. To the north-west of the station the Kelso Branch ran west to Kelso and continued on to St Boswells and the mainline still runs north over the Royal Border Viaduct.
Services from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Kelso and beyond ran south over the Royal Border Viaduct and then reversed here to run west to Kelso.

Kelso station and its goods yard were built by the North British Railway and it was the terminus of their Kelso Branch from St Boswells on the Edinburgh and Hawick Railway (Waverley Route). The end-on junction between the North British Railway's Kelso Branch and the North Eastern Railway was to the east of Kelso.
The station had two main through platforms, the westbound platform being an island. A station building stood by the road overbridge. The goods yard was to the east and north of the line and was at a slightly lower level. This was approached from the east.
In a road improvment scheme Kelso station and the viaduct to its east have been swept away.
