This used to be an integrated ironworks and steelworks. The ironworks having closure many years ago, the site was made over to rolling.

The new exchange sidings served by a railway
on the route of the Beaufort
Ironworks Tramway. These were built to replace sidings at Waunllwyd which
were cleared for the 1992 Garden Festival site.
