This line runs along the north bank of the River Tay through an area of farmed Countryside.
From Dundee to Perth.
Princes Street (Perth)
At Perth (formerly Perth General), further west, a connection was made with the Scottish Central Railway. One platform remains of the closed Princes Street station and the track is single from this point eastwards over a viaduct over the Tay to Barnhill. The original viaduct here, built in timber, was slightly further north and the remains of the approach to it can be seen at its west end. There is a public footway over the viaduct which provided for the island in the Tay.
This station is closed. A signalbox remains. There were carriage sidings here. This was the original western terminus of the line from Dundee until the River Tay was spanned. To the west the line singles to cross the viaduct into Perth.

This station is closed, but the station remains largely intact having closed in the 1980s. The station building houses a museum (still open?) and the signalbox is still in operation. A branch ran north from this station, the trackbed of whch is now incorporated into the road.

This station is closed and the line to it lifted. There are photographs showing the horse and carriage which used to ferry passengers from Inchture to Inchture Village stations.

This is the only remaining intermediary station open between Dundee and Perth. To the west a viaduct crosses the former Kingoodie Quarry.
This was the east facing junction for the deviation built to the Dundee and Newtyle Railway which avoided having to use the severe incline from nearby the Dundee West area up the Law.

This was a junction where a spur led off to the Dundee Tay Bridge station of the The Tay Bridge (North British Railway).
This station is closed. This was the terminus of the line from Perth, the route through the present Dundee station being a later construction. The terminus was re-built a number of times and had a fine glazed roof in its final form.
