The line ran through countryside and small towns with mills. Around Denny there was the Herbertshire Colliery and a number of rail-served mines.
The Caledonian Railway opposed the opening
of this branch.
From Denny to Larbert.
This was a single platform station with a passing loop. A line continued west to coal mines and north (from am east facing junction at the east end of the station) to further mines, the later branch ending with a turntable.
At this point the Kilsyth and Bonnybridge Railway joined the Denny Branch.
The junction formation is still visible. In the photograph - the Kilsyth and Bonnybridge line approached on an embankment which can be seen at the left of the picture with a large tree on it. Nearer to the junction the embankment has been demolished. The Denny line is on the right, just behind the bush visible on the extreme right. The photograph is taken nearby the actual junction point.

The site is now a rubbish dump.
This junction is to the west of the existing Carmuirs junctions - the track divided and ran to Carmuirs West Junction and Larbert Junction. The photograph looks towards Denny.
