Chronology

Alnwick

Top

Alnwick was a large terminus with an overall glass roof. The building still stands and is in use for multiple purposes including a bookshop with a coffeeshop. It is certainly worth a visit. Some parts of the platforms remain intact at the rear. To the south was a junction for the Cornhill Branch which ran south, then west and finally north for some miles to reach a junction and station at Coldstream.

Alnmouth

This three platform station was the junction station with the Newcastle and Berwick Railway. The station remains open although only teo platforms are currently in use.
