Airdrie and Newhouse Line (Caledonian Railway) This line is closed. The line consisted of two parts; one from Airdrie to Newhouse and one from Cleland to Salsburgh and on to Kirk of Shotts. These lines were joined nearby Newhouse. A passenger service operated over the line from Airdrie to Newhouse. The line was opened by the Caledonian Railway. |

These lines were built to serve coal mines in particular around Salsburgh. Passenger services were run between Airdrie and Newhouse.

This line was built after the Rutherglen and
Coatbridge Railway reached Airdrie. The line closed in sections as the various
coal mines closed. It was closd to passengers at an early date.
