Line (North British Railway) This line is open. The line runs from Inverkeithing to Burntisland and was opened in connection with the Forth Bridge Railway. It was built for the North British Railway. It carries both passengers and freight. Today it forms part of the East Coast Main Line. |

This line runs along the north bank of the Firth of Forth. It passes through the town of Dalgety Bay which acts as a suburb for Edinburgh and Dunfermline. The town was a popular holiday destination in Victorian days. At Burntisland there are a number of docks which were formerly used to export coal from the Fife coalfield.
From Burntisland to Inverkeithing. There are stations at Burnisland, Dalgety Bay and Aberdour. There was a halt at Donibristle Halt. The line is signalled by a powerbox based in Edinburgh.

The station at Burnisland was re-built when this line opened. The original station here was a terminus on the Edinburgh and Northern Railway. There are substantial docks by the station and the original entrance to the old station still stands, albeit at a rather odd angle to the current station.

This works is still open. It was served by sidings on the north side of the line, now lifted.

This station has a well tended garden. The old signalbox remains here, now out of use.

This is a new station for the growing town of Dalgety Bay. This station is located by the site of the former Donibristle Halt. Near here there was also a siding into RAF Donibristle. The former Fordell Railway passed under the line at this point.

Here the lines for Inverkeithing and the Forth Bridge, and Dunfermline and formerly Kinross divide. The link to Dunfermline is seldom used whilst the link to Inverkeithing is part of the East Coast Main Line.
